Even if you’re sure about a school you want to attend, you should still apply to other schools. You are competing with prospective international students from all over the world for a limited number of spaces, so it is possible that your “first choice” school may not accept you.
Students applying to universities and colleges in the USA must sit for certain examinations (SAT, ACT, GMAT, etc.) that measure aptitude and achievement. International students must also take a test that measures English language proficiency at test centers around the world. These tests are “standardized,” so that students take the same test at every test center. The fee for each application is USD35 to USD100 and it is non-refundable, even if you aren’t admitted to the school.

According to the College Board, during 2015 – 2016, the average cost of tuition and fees at a private college was USD32,405 and USD9,410 for a state school. Out-of-state residents paid USD23,893. Housing and meals ranged between USD10,138 – 11,516.
